ABSTRACT
To meet the water needs of the Polytechnic of Kampar Riau optimization is
necessary to clean the water treatment process in order to get clean water that
meets the standards of water quality standards in quality and quantity needs
and continuity. Based on laboratory tests of raw water quality at Polytechnic of
Kampar has high turbidity (27 NTU), high color (25 TCU), and low pH (4.68), so
that the water in the soil is not fit for use without prior treatment. Before
the test water treatment method is appropriate, made the selection of the most
appropriate coagulant with alum coagulant compared with PAC. Test
results obtained more effective coagulant that is by using the coagulant alum
who has a turbidity reduction efficiency of 85.92% at doses of 15 ppm, as seen
from the results of turbidity, pH and volume of sludge produced is compliant
with water quality standards and more efficient in terms of economic. Then
do the test, clean water treatment by comparing the two methods is the first
method uses the complete processing through the process of coagulation,
flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and the second method with direct flow
into the sand filter. Based on both the water treatment methods obtained
the most appropriate method is to use the full processing of the turbidity
value was less than 5 NTU, which meet the requirements of water quality. As
for boiler feed water and cooling tower, raw water after the complete
processing is compliant with water quality bait.
