ABSTRACT
Refining of
crude palm oil (CPO) aims to eliminate or reduce impurities contained in the
oil and eliminate taste and odor. Colors are not attractive and extend the shelf
life of the oil before consumption or use as raw materials in the industry. The
most important stage in the refining of CPO is the removal of material -
colored materials that are not desirable, and this process is commonly called
bleaching. This research aims to determine the best bleaching CPO
conditions the use Bleaching Earth E 850
S to produce bleached palm oil was pretty good.
Methods of work done is use a bleaching
earth bleaching CPO E 850 S with process variables such as the ratio of the
weight of the bleaching earth CPO are 2,
4, 6, 8%. Bleaching CPO time were 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes and, temperature
bleaching CPO were 80 and 100 ˚C. The results obtained using the best process
conditions Bleaching Earth E 850 S toward CPO obtained in the use of numbers by
8% to 100 ml will dipucatkan CPO CPO bleaching at temperatures of 80 ˚ C for 60
minutes while bleaching CPO where the bleaching efficiency values obtained
(EP) bleaching Earth E 850 S best by 98%. While the results of the study are
quite economical for application diindustri there at a temperature of 80 ˚ C,
30 minutes and use of bleaching earth E 850 S toward severe CPO by 2%. In these
conditions the EP value obtained is 95%. The EP is better than the E Pon
cooking oil that had previously been generated from the mini plant Polytechnic
Kampar 93%.
