ABSTRACT
Fertilizer is a
substance added to media planting to improve plants’ growth and yield. Polytechnic
of Kampar has a unit waste treatment that produces organic fertilizers and
biogas. Organic fertilizers in this unit were made from palm oil mill effluent.
The form of organic fertilizers was powder and its need to improve the values
of organic fertilizer by changing the form to granules or pellets. The benefits
using granule fertilizer are not quite dusty and have slow release nutrients
over a period of time. On granulation process, the use of adhesive is important
to compact the granules. In this research, the adhesives that have been used
were dolomite and boiler ashes. The research has been concluded that the
granulation process using dolomite 17 % had the optimum result. Based on
analysis, the bulk density was 0,5408g/cm2, durability was 98%, and
water absorption was 30.2822%.
